DESCRIPTION:The season is changing\, which means acorns will soon begin to ripen and fall. Join the California State Parks to learn how to process these nutrient-rich nuts into a traditional food staple. In addition\, visitors will also discover why oak trees are crucial to local ecosystems and their role as California’s top keystone plant species. \nThere are also other opportunities for the public to learn about Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) such as basket weaving\, music making\, Indigenous foods and medicine\, dye making\, etc. Community outreach groups providing information on environmental stewardship and reciprocity are also participating. \n \nFood vendors include Bigfoot Frybread and Hummingbird Sweets & Treats. \nThis free\, public event will be held outside of the State Indian Museum (SIM) and includes complimentary admission to both the SIM and Sutter’s Fort State Historic Park (SHP).
