The fishing derby provides the opportunity for kids 15 and younger to learn conservation and the basics of fishing competition that may spur an interest in future events. It is held in the memory of Antioch resident “Compy” Compomizzo, who inspired the mission statement: “Get kids hooked on fishing, not drugs or gangs.”
