Mutiny at Port Chicago: Black Resistance and Redemption

Step back in time and explore the pivotal story of the East Bay’s Port Chicago Sailors at Mutiny at Port Chicago: Black Resistance and Redemption at the Oakland Museum of California.
Experience the powerful 1999 film “Mutiny,” produced by Morgan Freeman, which tells the true story of the Port Chicago Sailors and their courageous stand against racial injustice during World War II.
Following the screening, actor David Ramsey — best known for his starring roles in Arrow, Blue Bloods, and Dexter — will join for a special conversation. Ramsey stars in “Mutiny” as one of the leaders of the Port Chicago 50, the group of sailors whose protest became a defining moment in the struggle for civil rights in the U.S. military.
This special event commemorates Oakland’s officially designated Port Chicago Remembrance Day and concludes with a panel discussion.
