Legacy Communities

Delta communities formed, in part, by leveraging favorable factors such as a site on naturally high ground, access to waterborne traffic, or the need for a trans-shipment point to create steamboat landings, wharves and packing houses that became the heart of early business districts. These towns, some long gone, represent the foundation of modern Delta life and are now referred to as the Legacy Communities.
