Franks Tract State Recreation Area
Accessible only by water, Franks Tract State Recreation Area has become a popular fly fishing and waterfowl-hunting destination. It is southeast of Brannan Island between the False River and Bethel Island.
Franks Tract hosts a wide diversity of species that call this place home, including great blue herons, cormorants, and kingfishers.
Anglers can take advantage of the area’s shallow waters to catch striped bass using their fly rods. During the fall and winter, bird watchers can view thousands of waterfowl and birds migrating through the Pacific Flyway.
